About Academics

Academics

Seton Catholic Preparatory (SCP) offers an enriching range of curricular offerings to challenge and nurture the interests of each one of our students. SCP is a community of faith whose purpose is to call its students to full participation in that community and to challenge them to achieve superior standards of educational excellence.

While offering a college preparatory curriculum, SCP is a Catholic school whose ultimate task is to prepare students with the resources necessary for lifelong learning within the framework of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church.

The faculty and staff of SCP facilitate students' religious formation; academic progress; social, cultural, physical and moral development, while supporting parents as primary educators. The school also invites students to examine the possibility of God's call to religious life, priestly life or lay ministry.

SCP teaches the value of self-discipline, and cultivates respect for self and others. Realizing the importance of the formation of the whole person, Seton Catholic Preparatory encourages self-confidence and the holistic development of its students so they will be fully prepared to spread the Gospel and be contributing members of the Church and society

Above and beyond

In addition to our standard rigorous curriculum, most of our graduates go beyond the minimum requirements through our Advanced Placement program, dual enrollment opportunities through Seton Hill University, or challenging electives such as anatomy and physiology, Academic Decathlon, or psychology. Seton students have the opportunity to pursue their passions for the performing and visual arts through a rapidly growing fine arts program that features drama, music, ceramics, photography, and film, as well as some of the more traditional media such as pencil, charcoal or paint. In theology and religious studies, students receive instruction in the Catholic Christian tradition that follows the framework of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. These are just some of the ways Seton students enjoy the richness and depth of our academic requirements.

Many of Seton Catholic Prep’s faculty members have earned advanced degrees. What sets this group of talented individuals apart, however, is their care for their students. As a result, Seton students are remarkably successful in their academic endeavors. Because of our college preparatory focus, Seton Catholic Prep sends 99 percent of its graduates each year to college. Graduates of Seton Catholic Prep have been accepted to the finest universities in the country, including Stanford; Harvard; Yale; Notre Dame; Georgetown; UCLA; Brown; Barrett, The Honors College at ASU; and the United States Naval Academy by presidential appointment.
