Statement Regarding Tuition Funding Programs

Statement Regarding Tuition Funding Programs, Victor Serna, Ph.D., Principal

The State of Arizona provides several options to assist families in paying for your child’s Catholic education, including the Empower Scholarship Account (ESA) Program and through State Tuition Organization (STO) tax credit funds. These programs are offered through the State and/or through the individual STO, and are not managed by the School.

Therefore, you are responsible for compliance with all terms, conditions to eligibility, and legal requirements related to any programs in which you participate. Please note in particular that pursuant to state law, if you choose to utilize an Empower Scholarship Account, you may not utilize STO funds (or vice versa). The School is not responsible for ensuring your compliance with this or any other term, condition, law or requirement relating to tuition assistance programs.

Furthermore, please be aware that payment of your child’s tuition is the family's responsibility, whether or not you choose to participate in ESA, STO, or any other programs or options to assist your family.  These programs may not cover 100% of the cost of tuition and fees, and therefore any outstanding portion will remain the family's responsibility.

REQUESTING A CUSTOM TUITION PAYMENT PLAN

Seton makes every effort to work with our families on custom payment plans once VERIFIED Financial Aid information is provided to the Finance Department.  Whether the family chooses ESA or STO for tuition financial aid assistance the policy remains the same.

STO:

If you receive a CEA Award (or any other STO Award CCF, AAA etc) please send a copy of that award notice to Seton and we will place a deferred payment (interest free) in May of 2027 for that amount as Seton collects this from CEA over 4 quarters. Seton will reach out by email in June to all our families asking parents/guardians to let us know how/what outside funding may be used to offset tuition costs for the family prior to the first payment due date in July. It is the FAMILY'S responsibility to remain in contact with their STO Organization from application to completion.

If you choose to use recommended funds for your student. That's wonderful. We hope and pray for families to  be successful in this effort. Please send us a screenshot from your recommended fund account to verify what is available.  Once we receive that verification, we will gladly adjust any remaining balance due to reduce the family obligation by these verified funds.  Seton does not provide refunds of tuition in anticipation of possible funding - As a stand-alone school with no support from a parish or Diocese, Seton depends on the timely collection of Tuition and fees. We recognize that families need to make hard decisions and sacrifices to attend Catholic School.  Seton makes every effort to help all our families and pray our families understand the critical support tuition and fees play for all families to receive a quality Catholic Education and to meet our obligation to our teachers and campus. Please send along to us documented availability of your recommended funds and we will adjust your payments at the time of receipt.  Seton will not place payments on hold without verification of funds.

SCP will adjust the family tuition obligation down based ONLY on verified financial aid funding. As stated in Principal Serna's statement above the remining tuition due will be the family obligation and you will receive notice of your family payment schedule in July.

ESA:

  • Seton will need a copy of the fully executed 26/27 Empowerment Scholarship contract from the AZ Department of Education for your student - this must have both your signature as well as that of the AZ Department of Education and it must clearly show the date the contract was executed (PDF please, no partial screenshots can be accepted)
  • Seton Must receive this contract within 30 days of execution
  • Please make a statement by email that you have received and understand Principal Serna’s Statement Notice Regarding Tuition Funding Program
  • Please send verification that you have completed the setup of your Class Wallet account and certify that SETON will be named as the vendor for all payments
  • Once these items are received and processed Seton will gladly work with you to make adjustments to your FACTS account to defer the portion of tuition covered by ESA to May 2027 and the remainder that will be the family’s obligation collected in the family FACTS account over a 10 pay, 2 pay or 1 pay (Payment plan is elected by the family). Families on the ESA Contract program may not pause the family payments.
  • More detail for ESA Families
