Our Patroness & Heritage

Seton Catholic is named for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint and a pioneer in Catholic education. Her life of courage, determination, faith, and love continues to shape our mission today.

The Sisters of Charity, founded by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, have played an important role in our history and continue to influence the charisms that guide our community.

The history of Seton Catholic is beautifully reflected in our coat of arms.

Several elements represent our roots and identity. The crescents come from the Seton family emblem. The crosses reflect us beginning with the Diocese of Tucson and now the Diocese of Phoenix, and the stars symbolize both Arizona and the Holy Trinity. The fleur-de-lis honors Mary and our motto, “To Jesus through Mary.” The chevron represents the house of God, rising into the blue of the Arizona sky, while the colors, red and gold, blue for Mary, and black from the Tucson diocesan arms, reflect our tradition and faith.
