History of SCP

Seton's first campus Seton Catholic Preparatory was founded in 1954 by Fr. Joseph Patterson and has a long tradition of forming students in faith, knowledge, and service. We began as a school to serve the children of migrant workers in Chandler, and now have grown into what we are today, the only Catholic high school in the East Valley.

We are named for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint and a pioneer of Catholic education. Seton has always been rooted in the belief that education should form the whole person. Our first teachers were from her order, the Sisters of Charity. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Seton's building after the fire
In 1980, we suffered from a devastating fire that destroyed the majority of our campus and could have ended our school. Thanks to the support of our community, we relocated and rebuilt on our current campus. Now we are thriving and have space for greater growth.
Throughout our history, we have remained committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom, preparing students to succeed in college and beyond. Students at Seton
Student walking around campus Today, we serve students from a wide range of schools and communities, welcoming families of all faiths while remaining firmly grounded in our Catholic identity.  Our programs continue to expand in academics, fine arts, athletics, faith, and service.
Dividing red line before the future

As we celebrate more than 70 years of Catholic education, we continue to invest in our future.  The construction of our new Event Center and Gymnasium marks the next chapter in our commitment to providing spaces that support student life, athletics, faith, and community.
