Seton Catholic selects new Spiritline Coach

Seton Catholic Preparatory Athletics announces that it has selected Gina Wood to be its Spiritline Head Coach beginning this summer.

“We are elated to have someone of Gina’s passion and enthusiasm join our athletic department as our Spiritline Head Coach,” Gregg Buchanan, Seton Catholic’s athletic director, said. “We think that her experience as a collegiate cheer squad leader and knowledge of the world of Spiritline put her in a position to enhance the program here at Seton Catholic, both at the school spirit level and competition level.”

Wood has a decorated background in cheerleading and stunting, including competing at the collegiate level as a flyer for the Lewis (Ilinois) University cheerleading program for three years. She also worked as a coach for five years in Illinois for a cheerleading club, handling the ins-and-outs of the program.

Most recently, Wood has been overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ALA-Ironwood Baseball program, handling administrative duties such as budgeting, fundraising, gameday experience and more as a parent liaison.

Wood is no stranger to Seton Catholic Prep, having been a former parent and volunteer for the Sentinels.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Seton Catholic community again, this time as the head Spiritline coach,” Wood said. “I want to take this program to the next level in both competition and community spirit. I can’t wait to get started with this team.”

Wood will take over a Spiritline program that sent its Pom team to the State Championships last season. The program will be announcing summer open gym and workout times for current Sentinels interested in Spiritline in preparation for the 2022-23 school year in the near future.
