Update 7-17-2020

Dear Seton Catholic Preparatory Community,

I pray this message finds you and your families well. The current pandemic situation is fluid and it is difficult to predict how things will look like next month. The state of Arizona continues to experience thousands of new cases every single day. Additionally, ICU beds and hospitalizations remain high. Although the situation is dire, we cannot lose hope or trust in the goodness of God. The Gospel reading from yesterday (Matthew 11: 28-30) is needed now as it was when it was first said, “Jesus said: ‘Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.’” We trust in the goodness of God and find peace in the Risen Christ, but we also need to act prudently by practicing common sense and attending to our personal responsibilities to aid in the collective efforts to stay safe and help keep others safe too.

It is in this spirit that I announce that Seton will open with all classes online or with a modified schedule for in-person instruction. It is not prudent to make a commitment to online or in-person instruction at this time because of the fluidity of the pandemic. A final decision will be communicated no later than July 31, 2020. Listed below is how the schedules will look under either scenario. In order to accommodate individual parent decision making, please note that online options will exist for students whenever classes meet for in-person instruction.

We continue to work on different instructional models needed to serve our mission and to keep our community safe. Please remember that our preference is always to have our classes on campus, but we will need to toggle between in-person and online classes throughout the year depending on the circumstances. I plan on sharing our reopening plan and summary next week.

New students will be invited to attend in-person orientation in small cohorts during the week of August 10, 2020. The schedule for orientation will be sent next week. Returning students will begin classes on August 17^th.
