SUMMER SCHOOL - Tuition Policy

Summer School is just around the corner and it's important at this time for families to plan for the obligation to pay for this wonderful opportunity.

Summer School may be required (Credit Recovery Course) but also may be selected by a family to ease the next year's schedule (Enrichment Course) for a student. No matter the path a family takes to arrive at the decision for summer school, it is important to recognize that Seton plans with our teachers to cover the costs to offer this wonderful opportunity in advance. SUMMER SCHOOL FEES AND BOOKS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FAMILY.

Planning ahead will help. Tax credit donations through a STO to your student may be used to cover the cost of summer school but timing here is very important. Parents/guardians are responsible to contact their STO to check to see if they have the Tax credit scholarships available to pay for Summer School. These arrangements need to made in the month of April with your Student tuition organization (STO) and then communicated to Seton Finance that funds are in place.

Those families using ESA as their source of Tuition assistance - it is Seton Policy that ESA Funding go to annual tuition first until satisfied before the any other fee or service.

Important notes on ESA and STO Funding for Summer School:
  • Families currently using ESA Funding for Academic Year 2023/2024 CANNOT use STO Tax Credit Funds (Recommended Funds) for Summer School in June 2024
  • Incoming 8th Grade students who are required to take an Enrichment Summer School Class may use excess funds in their 2023/2024 ESA Contract if funds are available.  Families must pay Seton for this course directly by cash, credit card or FACTS Account debit and then families may use the payment receipt to receive a refund from their ESA Class Wallet.  Seton will not provide invoices or allow direct Vendor pay for Enrichment Summer School Courses.
  • Parents will need to contact their STO - speak to a representative and verify funds that are available and most importantly see if the class that your student is taking qualifies.  Not all Summer School classes qualify.  At the High school level, you may use Tax Credits/Recommended Funds to pay for summer school but in many cases the course must be considered a credit needed for Graduation.  If verified and approved by your STO, please get this in writing (by email is fine) and confirm it is approved for funding and when the funds are available.  Once you have completed this please email our tuition manager Cindy Ostrowski with the confirmation email you received from your STO that the course is approved and the funds will be released to Seton. It would be best to speak to your student's Counselor to have all the information on your student's class prior to contacting your STO. (Example: Enrichment or Credit Recovery Course)

Summer School charges will be scheduled for a one payment in May or a maximum of two payments - the first in May and the second in June. This policy applies to new and returning families.

Please note for returning families - Your FACTS Account must be in good standing by April 30th - your student will not be cleared for summer school if there are past due balances.

Please reach out to me if you would like to discuss this policy in more detail.
