SETON CATHOLIC PREPARATORY HIGH SCHOOL

Bishop Olmsted and Monsignor McMahon at the Groundbreaking Ceremony - The Seton Catholic gymnasium is named in honor of Msgr. McMahon

With the Southeast Valley continuing to experience growth, Seton Catholic Preparatory High School is responding to the needs of the community by breaking ground on a new Classroom Building, the second building of a campus facility that will help grow a proud academic institution and eventually house 1,000 students. The home of several National Merit Finalists, Seton Catholic Preparatory High School is emerging as a leader in college preparatory education, and is currently the only such institution in the East Valley. Applications for incoming students to the school currently exceed the physical capacity of the campus.

The new classroom building will be a three-story, 55,000 sq. ft. classroom building and will be built to the west of the chapel. The classroom building will provide a much needed new fine arts level, a black box theater with seating for 400 and 16 additional classrooms. When completed we will be able to increase enrollment to 700 students. Construction of the shell of the building will begin just following groundbreaking with interior completion to follow.

The Most Reverend Bishop J. Olmsted presided and along with Bishop Olmsted, the Gila River Indian Nation representatives, a major benefactor to Seton Catholic, presented along with City of Chandler and State of Arizona dignitaries. The Quail Dancers from St. Peters Mission School performed just following the ceremony.

Seton Catholic Preparatory High School is college preparatory high school and has been a major part of high school education in Chandler since 1954. Last year, as in several years previously, 100% of all graduating seniors at Seton have gone to a university or college. The class of 2009, which numbered 111 students, received $3.2 million in scholarship opportunities.
