Plan on playing at the Collegiate Level?
As an athlete, there are also requirements of you to uphold as well. Since these demands can be confusing, it is important to talk to your college counselor about your interest and have them help plan out your curriculum with the NCAA in mind. The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) calls for a GPA of at least 2.0 in fourteen core courses, and to be eligible for a Division I school there are SAT or ACT requirements. These tests are based on a sliding scale depending on your GPA. Athletes should take their SAT or ACT no later than the spring of their Junior Year to prepare for retakes if need be. There is also a NCAA Clearinghouse Student Release form that needs to be filled out by the athlete, and submitted after their Junior year.
