International Student Admissions

Seton Catholic Preparatory High School is proud of our increasing number of international students who comprise approximately 3% of the student body. We hope that you find the information below useful. Please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Admissions should you have any questions.

Application Requirements/Deadlines:
Our application deadline for enrollment beginning in September, 2010 is January 22, 2011. (The enrollment period for the 2011-2012 term begins September 1, 2010. The application deadline for the 2011-12 term is January 22, 2011. ) The student's application, principal's recommendation, English teacher recommendation, math teacher recommendation, extra-curricular recommendation and results of standardized testing must also be received by the application deadline. Candidates who do not meet the application deadline are considered late applicants, and their chances for admission are limited by the number of spaces available.

Interviews:
We encourage all international candidates and their families to visit Seton Catholic Preparatory if possible. If you are not able to visit the campus personally it is required that you to arrange a Skype, OoVoo or telephone interview with our Director of Admissions. To arrange an interview, please contact the Admission Office at 480.963.1900 X2008.

Testing:
We require that candidates for grades 9, 10 and 11 submit scores from The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Candidates applying to grade 12 must submit scores from either the SAT or TOEFL.

International students for whom English is not their first language may take the TOEFL in place of the SSAT or SAT. As of this year, The Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organization that administers the TOEFL test, will offer a computer-based test as an alternative to the paper-based exams. A listing of these computer-based testing sites is provided in the TOEFL literature. In most cases, Seton Catholic Preparatory will require a minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 600, or a minimum computer-based score of 100. To meet the application deadline, a candidate should take the TOEFL in November or December.

For more information, please contact the TOEFL organization directly: TOEFL: Telephone: 609.771.7100, FAX 609.771.7500 (Princeton, NJ, USA)

For the international student who is comfortable with the English language, The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is offered at international locations in November, January and April. To meet our application deadline, a candidate should take the SSAT in November. For further information, you may contact this organization directly at: International SSAT FAX: 609.683.4507 (Princeton, NJ, USA)

Host Families:
As Seton Catholic Preparatory is a day school, host families for international students are required. All arrangements for the host family are to be made by the prospective student's family.
